Pre-Press & Graphic Design

A Pre-Press & Graphic Designer will play a vital role in our production team, you will be operating and maintaining our state-of-the-art workflow solutions, ensuring their efficient operation to meet or exceed customer expectations and quality standards as well as, executes design, layout and typesetting projects accurately and effectively. Files generated by customers and those generated within the Pre-Press Department must be reviewed so that files can be accurately prepared in compliance with job specifications and company quality standards. You assist the Prep-Press Team Leader to prioritize and execute printing projects, maintain equipment, and uphold safety protocols. Pre-Press & Graphic Design Operations

  • Receive and manipulate files electronically from email and disk.
  • Perform all design and page layout job orders according to work order/job ticket requirements.
  • Interface with the Sales Representative, the Customer Service Representative and the customer to understand job requirements and ensure all design work is approved prior to creating plates or forwarding them for printing.
  • Provide customers with proofs and see that proof deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with press operators to ensure that the prepared files meet their expectations and requirements.
  • Preflight and troubleshoot customer digital files, load fonts, inspect graphics, and make color separations.
  • Prepare files for output to plate or Digital Presses.
  • Layout/impose files on imposition templates.
  • Output files to image setter; set line screens, resolution, and other press-specific settings.
  • Operate image setter.
  • Maintain accurate records of jobs, including specifications, quantities, and production times.



  • Bachelor of Arts degree desired.
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in graphic design.
  • Minimum of 1 years of print production experience.
  • Knowledge of PDF and postscript files and PDF plug-ins.
  • Ability to receive, manipulate files and prepare files for output (spot and 4-color process).
  • Experience in multi-up and book imposition.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Good mathematical skills and able to read a ruler.
  • Good understanding of all parts of the printing process and able to assist as needed.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced production environment.
